Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 2/18
First order of business, is a presentation by Interim Director of KnoZone, Mo Reynolds, which is a part of the Office of Sustainability.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 3/18
KnoZone is an initiative to make Central Indiana one of the Midwest's most sustainable, livable regions. The KnoZone monitors the AQI, or Air Quality Index.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 4/18
Through education, resources, and guidance for taking action. KnoZone Action Day, which is a day encouraged to proactively reduce air pollution. Things like encourageing electric vehicles, mowing after 6pm, etc.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 5/18
Examples of what everyday citizens can do. This is especially helpful for indianapolis residents because of the amount of residents living with asthma
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 6/18
Discussion around this agenda topic is concerned about ToxDrop locations, incineration location (Reworld), and ways in which these facilities affects our ozone and PM output.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 7/18
New Committee Chair, asks why the fluctuation in # of action days. Ms. Reynolds explains that sometimes # of action days deal with environmental happenings. For example, 2022 Saraha Dust storms affected us here in the Midwest.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 8/18
Next to present is John Welch, frim the Dept of Enviromental Management's Office of Air Quality. He's the lead forecaster for the state, working closely with Ms. Reynolds and the Office of Sustainability.

Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 10/18
Brief overview of monitoring sites, most of then in the Central Indiana region
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 11/18
Graph shows ozone since 1999, which phone is recorded during Apr-Sep . Hard to read graph, but historically due to reduction efforts our ozone has improved
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 12/18
Interesting slide about how the forecast is made. IDEM then works with the office of sustainability when determining an Action Day and what actions to take.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 13/18
Some background about IDEM and 2024 highlights
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 14/18
ESI provides enhanced services via a service request
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 15/18
if you google "IDEM what's in my neighborhood" it'll send you to the IDEM's interactive map with 10 layers/view of information.
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 16/18
For example, the site where Shapiro is on the southside used to be a gas station. Water monitoring systems were originally place at that site as the property changed from a gas station and the historical data/ additional information is available for review
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 17/18
One final question from a committee member, how will the Committee determine priorities given tonight's presentations, to which the chairman responded that this information should be shared with the public and in tandem with them to determine next steps and action plans
Jan IndyDoc @indyDoc_is_in 18/18
and with that, tonight's meeting is adjourned at 6:34pm. For a recording of tonight's meeting, a link will be posted here indianapolis.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.…
