Hennepin County Board - Committees & Housing and Redevelopment Authority
Hennepin County Board of CommissionersHennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th St, Minneapolis, MN 55487 (Directions)
Meeting in committees, board members:
- Approved two items that embed Hennepin County staff in the METRO Blue Line Extension and METRO Green Line Extension projects at Met Council.
- Progressed the Residential Waste Reduction and Recycling Funding Policy for 2026-2028 to the next full board meeting. The policy establishes the rules for allocating county funds to cities for waste reduction and recycling programs. In 2024, the county provided $4.4 million in funding to cities for these programs. By progressing the item, the committee moves the item along to the full board meeting but doesn’t take a yes or no vote as a committee. Board members extensively discussed the need for Minneapolis to meet county-set goals to allow for the closure of HERC.
- Approved extending the period of time to evaluate staffing requirements for emergency medical responses. The extension allows three months (through March 2026) to study two full years of data, collected through December 2025, on pre-hospital stroke and trauma response under the two-paramedic model.
- Approved multiple contracts for social workers embedded with cities and police departments.
