Deirdre George Davis and Steven Thompson, with Superintendent Nikki Woodson, are board members in attendance tonight. These current board members make up the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township.

EDIT: Brianna Dines (resident of Washington Township) and an alumnus of Washington Township schools spoke out against the privatization and undermining of democracy in education. As a member of the Central Indiana Democratic Socialist of America, Dines talked about SB373.

EDIT: Dines explained that Senate Bill 373 of the Indiana General Assembly is a pilot program for charter schools to share public buildings and transportation with public schools.

EDIT: In response, Dines mentioned how SB373 provides subtle language to discern that public and charter schools will be "shared" equally.

On 3/26/25, HB 1501 (House Bill 1501 of the Indiana General Assembly was voted down. Dines mentioned that the language in HB1501 is similar to SB73. Again, the WTS alumnus explained that HB1501 is also a pilot program for charter schools to access public funds via property taxes.

After Dines' testimony, the associate superintendent, Dr. Sean Taylor, spoke on behalf of two district leaders: Chief Academic Officer Dr. Nataki Pettigrew and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Matt Kaiser.

Pettigrew will be promoted to assistant superintendent of Academic Services, while Kaiser will be promoted to assistant superintendent of Operations. Each promotion will come this July 2025.

EDIT: The Board approved the Freestyle Contract Agreement 2025-2026 presented by the Assistant Director at J. Everett Light Career Center, Mr. Brian Funk.

EDIT: Mrs. Rebecka Smith presented the Resolution to Dissolve Previous Board Policies, the Void Date Checks approval, and the Fixed/Capital Assets Review. The Board approved each proposal.

EDIT: Capital Projects Manager, Jim Boots, presented a proposal for the Approval of the Building Automation Controls Purchase Agreement with Temperature Control Services for North Central Phase 3

Boots also presented the proposal for the Approval of the Agreement with Enviroworx Services, Inc. for North Central Phase 3.3 and 3.4. The Board approved both of Boots' proposals.
