Re: Public

“ART for IMPACT is a FREE art show and community gathering that uses the power of Black creativity to raise awareness about the historic and persistent racial, systemic, and social injustices impacting Black culture, Black health, and the overall quality of life of the Black community in Indianapolis. Black artists will display pieces that explore and speak to these themes.

This instance of ART for IMPACT will raise awareness to the issue of police brutality that took the life of Herman Whitfield III (killed by IMPD officers in April 2022) and many other individuals and families who have been harmed and killed by police brutality in Indianapolis. This event will also encourage the community to attend the upcoming 5-day criminal trials (starting 12/2/2024) of the officers who killed Herman III and embrace the many other families who are seeking justice after being harmed by police brutality.

ART for IMPACT is an opportunity to experience the power of Black art, speak with the artists, participate in a community healing session, listen to music, enjoy light snacks, and gather in community to support families impacted by police brutality. ART for IMPACT features work from the following visual and healing artists:

  • A.R.T. (A Rare Trait) - visual artist
  • Deanna “Nann” Harris - visual artist
  • Durango - visual artist
  • Khara Smith of Sacred Disconnect - community healing yoga teacher
  • Obed - visual and tattoo artist
  • Slim - visual artist

ART for IMPACT is a collaborative effort from Brother Jamaal, Wildstyle Paschall, and the Justice for Herman Whitfield III Campaign. See the flyer below and attached. Learn more about the artists on the Justice for Herman Whitfield III Campaign’s social media pages.”
