⭐️They will continue interviews for BOPC Secretary.
Last week, three candidates were interviewed: John Franks, Kai Paige, and Felecia Tyson.
This week, two new candidates are up for interviews: Lydia Garnier Barlow Jamison and Preston Zacharias.

We can expect that the BOPC will go into closed session during the meeting today to discuss the 5 candidates publicly interviewed for the role.
I'm frustrated. I can't see or hear anything. Just an icon. I had heard the BOPC team members. Now I'm hearing a mic test. This is bad.
A public commenter is being escorted out. This is at a very high level of intensity. She exceeded her comment time and is screaming.
Oof. Next commenter. Minister Eric Blount calling for moment of silence for Sonya Massey.
Calling out that it is legal for a police officer to lie to residents. It's crazy to deal with this current system.

--Blount calling out a Metro Times article that highlighted poor behaviors by law enforcement officers.

Public comments continue: Male Vietnam vet lives behind Palmer Park. Says they leave the park and hang out on 2nd and Covington. They are playing music until the morning comes. Says it is wrong. He's reached out to Precinct 12. Wants help.
They're still waiting on the quorum. Burton is outside and chatting with the woman who was having a screaming episode. Then, he and Pressley can return and there will be a quorum.
Public comments. Male speaker. Has received three orange tow-away stickers. He has 60-day temporary plates.
Female commenter: July 21st--was reported that Mayor Duggan's officials don't live in the city. She says she's ashamed of Detroit, wants BOPC to get act together around this open secretary role.
Male speaker is yielding his time to previous female speaker. OMG she just said "side piece". Just sayin'. As in "if you had a side piece and she got a ticket, it would be taken care of." Thank you, female commenter, for that brief comedic moment. ;)
Female speaker. $250 parking tickets being given by neighborhood police officers. There's more to pay attention to. We need trauma-informed care. Calling out had behavior of cops on her block.
Bam! There's a quorum. (x=present)

Bell (excused absence)
Burton x (says he needs to step out....this is kinda ridiculous IMO. He's leaving the meeting to go into the hallway and thereby rendering them unable to convene the meeting).

They're going to recess for 5 minutes rather than calling off the meeting on account of Burton being MIA in the hallway. They will try to get Bernard on the phone. I thought I did hear her testing the Zoom call earlier.
TBH today I feel badly for the BOPC members who just want to get their job done.
break over, another male public commenter also yielding his minutes to same female commenter.
They are now moving to adjourn the meeting.

What a ridiculous moment this is. Woods apologizing to the candidates, to the public. They want to be able to do the peoples' business. OCI is fully staffed and doing the work of the city of Detroit. Have new investigators on staff now.
Pressley-motion to adjourn.
Hernandez-seconded with comment that this is unacceptable.
